After 8 days, Trump still refuses to honor 4 US troops killed in action
As Donald Trump continues to lecture the NFL about the meaning of patriotism and the correct way to honor the flag and American troops, he maintain his steadfast silence over the four U.S. servicemen who were killed in an ambush in Niger one week ago. In the week since the deadly attack, Trump has tweeted […]

In the week since the deadly attack, Trump has tweeted more than 40 times — about the NFL, the stock market, the media, Republican fundraising, “unfunny” comedians, Columbus Day, ESPN, and professional hockey.
But nothing about the fallen troops. Trump has offered no condolences. His baffling silence is not going unnoticed, as more journalists point to Trump’s refusal to acknowledge, let alone honor, the dead Americans.
From MSNBC’s Mike Barnicle:
Donald Trump has time to tweet on multiple targets but too busy to mention of 4 US Army KIA in Niger as bodies return to Dover for burial.

From CNN’s Hadas Gold:
Has Trump tweeted about the four U.S. soldiers killed in Africa?

On Oct. 4, the four American servicemen “died from wounds “sustained during enemy contact” when the small group of U.S. and Nigerien troops was ambushed by dozens of heavily armed militants riding in pickup trucks,” according to the Washington Post. The U.S. currently has approximately 800 personnel stationed in Niger, the West African nation where jihadist groups have established power bases.
The four American killed were Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, 35; Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, 39; Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright, 29, of Lyons, Georgia; and Sgt. La David Johnson, 25. All four were assigned to the Army’s 3rd Special Forces Group.
Note that according to Salon, Trump over the years has tweeted more 60 times about Benghazi, the 2012 terror attack that also left four Americans dead.
Benghazi is bigger than Watergate. Don’t let Obama get away with allowing Americans to die. Kick him out of office tomorrow.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 5, 2012
But he’s gone silent about Niger.
Trump’s all-consuming silence seems to have spread to Fox News, as well. The GOP’s cable network aired thousands of reports on the 2012 Benghazi attack and spent years blaming Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the American deaths. Not only did Fox News blame the duo, but the channel portrayed the two Democrats as being borderline treasonous and without any concern for the safety of American troops.
Yet like Trump, flag-waving Fox News, seems singularly uninterested in the tragic news out of Niger.
