Indivisible has a very simple message for Republicans on their tax scam

Indivisible groups have been protesting around the country to tell their members of Congress to stop the GOP tax scam. There are plenty of good reasons to oppose it — it hurts teachers and veterans and middle-class families, and it gives government handouts to big corporations and the ultra-rich — but the Indivisible group in Colusa, California, boils it down to one very simple message:

ACTION ALERT: Hold House Republicans accountable for their tax scam

Speaker Paul Ryan and his fellow House Republicans rammed through their ugly tax scam on Thursday — with zero support from Democrats. Those Republicans need to know their votes will cost them. The Not One Penny coalition — working with Americans for Tax Fairness, Indivisible, MoveOn.org, Organizing for Action, Tax March, and many more progressive organizations — is holding events around the country in the coming weeks to stop this bill before it goes any further. Find an event near you to make your voice heard.

Sen. Mazie Hirono wants to keep guns out of the hands of abusers

There’s simply no justifiable reason for abusers to be able to get their hands on guns. It’s one of the most common factors in mass shootings: the shooter almost always has a history of domestic violence. So Hawaii Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono introduced a bill to do something about it.

At a recent Senate hearing, Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown thoroughly destroyed the Republican talking point that repealing the estate tax somehow helps average Americans — when only .2 percent of estates in the entire country actually pay it — and Trump’s ridiculous claim that the tax scheme would not benefit him. It certainly would, as Brown pointed out, though by how much cannot be known since Trump still refuses to release his tax returns.

Planned Parenthood provides basic health care to more than 2 million men and women across the country every year. But it also does more than that. It helps organize and drive the fight to protect health care for all Americans. And now it has received a much-deserved award for its incredible work, especially for helping to defeat multiple attempts this year to repeal Obamacare. Brava, Planned Parenthood. And thank you.
