Responding to the latest blockbuster revelation that Donald Trump Jr. was exchanging online messages with WikiLeaks while the pro-Russian cut-out was publishing stolen Democratic Party emails last year, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) demanded to know when Republicans are going to start “protecting our country,” instead of trying to protect Donald Trump.

Speaking to CNN’s Don Lemon, Speier made it plain that last year’s election results are now tainted and that the Republican Party openly colluded with outside, hostile forces to swing the presidential results.

SPEIER: Well, I think it’s deeply troubling. I mean, this is coordination. This might even be conspiracy. And it doesn’t stop with Donald Jr. I mean, we have evidence that Cambridge Analytica, which was working for the Trump campaign, was attempting to communicate with WikiLeaks, and so was Roger Stone. And the president himself as a candidate kept saying, “I love WikiLeaks.” Well, WikiLeaks, his own director of intelligence, the CIA director, Mike Pompeo, you just had it in the last segment, basically called it an intelligence agency, a hostile one, it was a non-state hostile intelligence service. I mean, when are we going to start protecting our country, instead of trying to just protect the president from those who are identifying that he was rigging the election. It was interesting, during the campaign he kept saying, ‘It’s going to be rigged, It’s rigged.’ Well, it was rigged, it appears. But it was rigged by Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Wikileaks, and a number of other individuals.

We’ve certainly come a long way from early 2017, when the official, albeit comical, White House talking point was that nobody from the Trump campaign had any contacts with Russian operatives last year.

In fact, we now know of more than 30 contacts last year. They happened on Feb. 28, 29, March 14, 19, 21, 24, 29, 31, April 3, 7, 10. It went on and on, month after month, as the GOP’s candidate reached out to hostile foreign players for campaign assistance.

Donald Trump, Jr.’s flirtation with Wikileaks last year is just the latest, and perhaps most damning, revelation. As reported by The Atlantic, Trump Jr. had multiple electronic correspondences with Wikileaks. In one conversation, Wikileaks urged Trump Jr. to have his father tweet out links to the hacked emails of Clinton campaign chair John Podesta . Candidate Trump did exactly that, 15 minutes later.

And it wasn’t just Trump’s son. According to an anonymous source speaking to the Atlantic, “on the same day that Trump Jr. received the first message from WikiLeaks, he emailed other senior officials with the Trump campaign, including Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Brad Parscale, and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, telling them WikiLeaks had made contact. Kushner then forwarded the email to campaign communications staffer Hope Hicks.”

They were all in on it and the election was rigged.
