- Well, well, well. Look who may have broken the law by using personal email for government business:
President Trump’s voter fraud commission may have violated federal records laws by using personal email accounts to conduct commission work.
That’s the commission Donald Trump created by executive order to investigate the non-existent epidemic of “voter fraud.” The commission is headed by Vice President Mike Pence and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach. And now it’s getting sued:
The lawsuit brought by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law against the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity states that Justice Department attorneys revealed during a Sept. 1 meeting that commission members have been using personal email accounts rather than federal government-issued accounts to conduct commission-related work.
Pretty embarrassing for the guy whose presidential campaign focused so much on someone else using private email for government business to have his own voter suppression commission enveloped in a scandal about the exact same thing, don’t you think?
- Michigan might have voted for Trump, but he probably couldn’t get elected dog catcher there now. A new poll shows just how much the state’s voters have soured on him during his short eight months in office:
On job performance, the poll gives President Trump a 62% negative rating, 35% positive rating and 3% who are still trying to make up their minds.
Fifty-seven percent believe the country is on the wrong track, 29% say were headed in the right direction and 14% are still thinking about it. Trump’s favorability numbers in Michigan are at 36% compared to the 56% who don’t like him.
- The pro-Trump anti-immigrant Breitbart is really pushing the false narrative that immigrants are dangerous, to support Trump’s decision to deport immigrants who brought to the United States as children. In fact, it’s pushing that lie so hard, it’s posting what some might call “fake news”:
On Tuesday night, Breitbart News presented a photo of MS-13 gang members in El Salvador as if they were DACA recipients in the United States. […]
Breitbart’s accompanying piece discusses how 2,139 DACA recipients have had their protected status revoked because of alleged criminal activities over five years. But there are currently about 800,000 people enrolled in DACA, so the percentage of DACA recipients involved in criminal behavior ends up being roughly 0.3 percent, which is extremely low in comparison to the national rate of people with felony convictions (over 8.5 percent) or people who are arrested by age 23 (roughly 30 percent).
- Is being a target of the Trump administration taking a toll on your mental health? Here To Stay has a Mental Health Emergency Toolkit to help you:
The UndocuHealth Project Emergency Toolkit was designed to alleviate not only the stress and anxiety of folks across the nation and keep ours families secure, but also to give the reader tools that will allow them to conduct safe zone events and incorporate stress reducing activities within their community work and daily lives.
