Three attorneys general argue federal laws around the mifepristone make it difficult for states to enforce abortion bans

The percentage of people who say they’ve tried to end a pregnancy without medical assistance increased after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade. That’s according to a study published Tuesday in the online journal JAMA Network Open.

In the high court’s first abortion-related ruling since it overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, the justices ruled unanimously to change nothing about mifepristone’s legal status.

The Louisiana Legislature gave final approval Thursday to a bill that would label two drugs used to induce labor and treat miscarriages as “controlled dangerous substances,” despite opposition from a broad group of medical professionals.

Minnesota lawmakers last year passed a sweeping law protecting abortion rights and making Minnesota a reproductive rights refuge in the Upper Midwest. But the U.S. Supreme Court is considering a case whose outcome could still limit access to an abortion pill despite Minnesota’s protections.
