Three GOP lawmakers have floated plans to strip federal funding from prosecution proceedings against former President Donald Trump.

'The attack on our nation’s Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was an unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy,' said Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith.

The Special Counsel’s Office has requested ‘any and all communications in any form’ officials in certain counties had with Trump officials between June 2020 and January 2021.
