The Supreme Court ordered Alabama to draw two majority-Black voting districts, but the Republican-controlled Legislature only drew one.

Fully 60% of voters see expanding voting access in federal elections as an ‘important’ or ‘top’ priority, according to a new poll.

In 2021, Republicans passed 34 laws in 19 states that would make it harder for people to vote.

But Republicans in 17 states made it harder to vote last year.

‘We will not leave any stone unturned to save American democracy,’ said Marc Morial, head of the National Urban League.

In dissent, Justice Elena Kagan wrote the court was weakening a landmark voting rights law for the second time in eight years.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder said voter roll purges are a tactic of ‘movements to try to keep people away from the polls.’

Eight years after carving the heart out of a landmark voting rights law, the Supreme Court could do further damage to laws fighting racial discrimination.

At the bill’s core, a foundational principle of American democracy is at play: access to the ballot.
