After scaring off his lawyer, Trump says he wants to talk to Mueller
Everyone has told Trump it’s a bad idea to testify to special counsel Robert Mueller, but he still insists he wants to do it.

Right after his top attorney, John Dowd, resigned Thursday because his client refuses to follow his legal advice, Trump insisted that he still wants to sit down for an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller.
At a photo op to sign a memorandum on trade with China, CNN’s Jeff Zeleny asked whether Trump still wants to testify.
“Yes, I would like to, I would like to,” Trump replied as he exited the room.
Trump is the only person who thinks talking to Mueller is a good idea. His legal team has expressed great concern about testifying because he would likely perjure himself.
Trump himself has flip-flopped wildly on whether he would testify under oath to Mueller. Last July, he said he would “100 percent” be willing to talk to the special counsel.
But he sang a different tune at a press conference in January, where he told reporters that “it seems unlikely that you’d even have an interview,” let alone an interview under oath.
He then swung back to saying he was “looking forward” to speaking with Mueller under oath, but said an interview would be “subject to my lawyers and all of that.”
With Dowd gone and conspiracy-minded Joe DiGenova recently added to the legal team, it’s anyone’s guess what kind of advice he will be receiving now.
But given the evidence of campaign collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice that has already been made public, he’s as damned if he tells Mueller the truth as if he lies.
