Second Democratic debate crushes Trump media appearances with record ratings
Trump lost another ratings race to the Democrats.
Trump’s ratings are anemic and extremely “low energy.”
The second night of Democratic presidential debates improved over the first night and completely dwarfed Trump’s two most recent major media appearances.
“The so-called ‘overnight’ ratings, recording how many households tuned in, showed a 15 to 20 percent increase over Wednesday,” CNN reported on Friday.
A record-breaking 18.1 million viewers tuned in Thursday night, making it the highest-rated Democratic debate in the history of the Nielsen ratings. A total of 15.3 million households watched the debate on Wednesday.
Those numbers dwarf the ratings for Trump’s June 17 prime-time special on ABC, when 3.9 million tuned in. Trump couldn’t even manage to win his time period, coming in second to the U.S. Open golf tournament.
Trump’s ratings were nearly half those of “Family Feud,” which aired in the same time period the week before.
Trump’s June 23 appearance on “Meet the Press” was also a flop, with only 3.1 million viewers.
Millions of people voted with their television remotes to tune in and watch the field of Democratic candidates.
Early polling already shows much of the field with higher support than Trump, and the debate ratings — following the midterm elections in 2018 — shows an electorate hungry for a new president.
They are tired of bigotry, sexism, corruption, and incompetence.
