Dozens of Stephen Miller's relatives want America to know he's horrible

Senior Trump aide Stephen Miller’s uncle says “dozens of family members” encouraged him to publish a damning op-ed calling his nephew, the leading architect of Trump’s cruelest anti-immigrant policies, an “immigration hypocrite.”

David S. Glosser, Miller’s uncle, recently decried his nephew’s anti-immigrant zeal in a powerful essay for Politico, calling Miller “the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country.”

Miller and Trump often slam what they call “chain migration,” which is really just a family reunification policy allowing green card holders or legal U.S. residents to sponsor a family member’s legal immigration.

Yet Miller’s own ancestors benefited from this practice, Glosser pointed out. And if the harsh immigration policies Miller pushes had been in place in the early 20th century, Glosser noted, his entire family line could have been wiped out in the Holocaust.

In a Tuesday morning appearance on CNN, Glosser explained that he is far from the only member of his family who feels this way about Miller.

“I have a huge family,” Glosser said. “I wouldn’t offer to speak for my entire family, but dozens of family members encouraged me to push forward with this.”

In the Politico piece, Glosser also discussed his family’s Jewish lineage and explicitly compared Trump’s rhetoric about immigrants to that of the Nazis.

“Trump publicly parades the grieving families of people hurt or killed by migrants, just as the early Nazis dredged up Jewish criminals to frighten and enrage their political base to justify persecution of all Jews,” Glosser explained.

Miller is in Trump’s innermost of circles. And while most of his destructive work has been behind the scenes, on a few occasions Miller has taken center stage to articulate his dark, authoritarian view of Trump’s presidency.

He pushed the idea very early on that Trump’s power “will not be questioned,” which was later followed by an attack on the Statue of Liberty meant to justify Trump’s harsh immigration policies.

Like many other Trump loyalists, Miller has been scrutinized in the FBI/Mueller probe of the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia. But when appearing on TV to attack the press over covering the far-reaching Russia story, Miller acted so unhinged that CNN’s Jake Tapper abruptly ended the interview.

Worst of all, Miller took the lead in crafting the Trump administration’s barbaric decision to criminally prosecute all border crossers, even if it meant ripping children from their parents.

This cruelty turned Miller into even more of a pariah. One night, Miller pitched a fit and threw out his own takeout sushi after a bartender yelled at him for hurting families.

If dozens of Miller’s own family members encouraged his uncle to publicly condemn Miller’s bigotry and hypocrisy, it’s clear that they want America to know the ugly truth about who their relative really is.
