Trump is losing to all his top challengers in new poll that has him freaking out

A new poll has Trump faring poorly against all of the top Democratic candidates, the latest in a series of red flags that are sending Trump into a panic over his reelection chances.

The Quinnipiac University national poll had Trump losing against every candidate polled. Former Vice President Joe Biden bested Trump 53% to 40%; Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) 49% to 41%; Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) 49% to 42%; Mayor Pete Buttigieg 47% to 42%; and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) 47% to 42%. Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont also topped Trump 51% to 42%.

The polls are head-to-head matchups for the general election, and are not reflective of Electoral College results. Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million votes in 2016.

But even though Trump could — again — lose the popular vote and still win, the poll does not augur well for his reelection chances. At the state level, Trump’s approval rating has also plummeted by double digits since 2016 in several key swing states he would need to win in 2020.

The polling follows Trump’s recent attacks on U.K. officials as well as his poor handling of the immigration crisis and imposing tariffs that have cost jobs.

The Quinnipiac poll isn’t the only one showing Trump in danger next year.

According to an April ABC News/Washington Post survey, 55% of adults said they will “definitely not vote for [Trump]” in 2020. Trump’s approval rating also sits at a measly 42%, according to FiveThirtyEight, and an aggregation of major polling has never shown him above 48%.

And Trump’s internal polling isn’t doing him any favors, either.

Following recent poor internal polling in key Midwest states, Trump instructed aides to lie to the press. Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale spun the news, claiming news outlets “continue to lie with polling to fit their narrative” and insisted Trump “is doing better now, than ever before, in our polling.”

On Wednesday morning, Trump melted down and claimed on Twitter that the bad news for his campaign was just “Fake Polling.”

It’s clear that Trump is more worried about the polls and his reelection chances than he claims.
