Trump slams Fox News for poll showing him losing to Democratic candidates
Fox News had to tell the truth for once, and it made Trump mad.
Trump blasted Fox News on Friday just hours after the network turned gave him a considerable amount of prime-time real estate to rant on air.
“@FoxNews is at it again. So different from what they used to be during the 2016 Primaries, & before – Proud Warriors!” Trump wrote. “Now new Fox Polls, which have always been terrible to me (they had me losing BIG to Crooked Hillary), have me down to Sleepy Joe.”
The most recent Fox News poll has Trump losing to both former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and facing a close race with Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Kamala Harris (D-CA).
The poll also shows Trump with an approval rating of 46%, and it said the overwhelming majority of respondents — 63% — found his recent attacks on four Democratic congresswomen to be racist.
In other words, the poll echoed similar trends seen in other polling. Trump continues to be unpopular, is racist, and is losing to top Democratic candidates.
What is unusual about Trump’s complaint is that it came after he spent a considerable portion of the previous night on Fox.
Trump appeared via phone with his ally and apologist Sean Hannity for nearly half of the hourlong show’s runtime.
“I’m just going to open it up to you to go wherever you want with this,” Hannity said, as he effectively gave Trump an open microphone to rant and rave about whatever he wanted to.
The interview was just one way in which Fox has worked as the semi-official propaganda network of the Trump administration. The organization regularly lies, deceives and smears in service of Trump and his fellow Republicans.
But even all of that wasn’t enough.
Fox’s own polling showed that their propaganda message isn’t working with millions of people, who continue to give Trump a failing grade. For the sin of reporting on their own polling, Trump lashed out. Deviation from marching in lockstep with him — even for a brief moment — was too much to bear.
Trump’s tweets show someone demanding nothing less than total sycophancy, around the clock. Even Fox News’ devotion to the cause is not strong enough to satiate Trump’s ego.
