Trump's new vow to 'start focusing' on his job barely lasts two hours
Given the job he’s doing, maybe we’re all better off.

After an extra-long holiday weekend of expelling garbage on Twitter, Trump promised to get back to “focusing” on his job Tuesday morning, but just hours later it became apparent that effort failed.
Trump spent Memorial Day weekend on a Twitter tear that was unhinged, even by his standards. On Saturday, he tried to blame Democrats for his own cruel policy of ripping children away from their parents at the border, and claimed that a White House official who briefed reporters on background didn’t actually exist.
Trump spent the rest of the weekend bouncing around between undermining the Mueller investigation, ranting about Hillary Clinton, and capped it all off by using every U.S. service member who has ever died to brag about himself on Memorial Day.
“Happy Memorial Day!” Trump tweeted. “Those who died for our great country would be very happy and proud at how well our country is doing today. Best economy in decades, lowest unemployment numbers for Blacks and Hispanics EVER (& women in 18years), rebuilding our Military and so much more. Nice!”
The madness continued Tuesday morning with the accusation that Robert Mueller and his investigators will be “meddling” in the midterms.
But then, Trump promised to knock it off for awhile, tweeting “Sorry, I’ve got to start focusing my energy on North Korea Nuclear, bad Trade Deals, VA Choice, the Economy, rebuilding the Military, and so much more, and not on the Rigged Russia Witch Hunt that should be investigating Clinton/Russia/FBI/Justice/Obama/Comey/Lynch etc.”
That “focus” lasted precisely 123 minutes, after which Trump was back at it.
“The Fake Mainstream Media has, from the time I announced I was running for President, run the most highly sophisticated & dishonest Disinformation Campaign in the history of politics,” he tweeted. “No matter how well WE do, they find fault. But the forgotten men & women WON, I’m President!”
But given the job Trump is doing on those issues, perhaps we’re all better off with him doing something else. He has repeatedly made a mess of diplomacy with North Korea while giving Kim Jong Un a string of huge propaganda victories.
On trade, Trump has proposed tariffs that could kill hundreds of thousands of jobs and cripple the businesses of those who supported him.
Trump tried to replace the VA administrator he fired with a completely unqualified candidate who had to withdraw in disgrace. Trump’s mission is to privatize veterans’ care, a policy that veterans overwhelmingly oppose.
Trump’s economy is mainly a continuation of President Obama’s success, and his most recent move with the military was to lie to them about pay raises.
Trump’s brief record shows that the only thing worse than Trump not doing his job might be Trump trying to do it.
