Trump: People who want me to deport Ilhan Omar are 'incredible patriots'
Trump praises his strongest supporters who made racist chant.
Trump told reporters on Friday that his supporters who want him to deport Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) are “incredible patriots.”
Trump fans broke into a chant of “Send her back!” when he started to attack Omar during his MAGA rally in North Carolina Wednesday night.
“Those people in North Carolina — that stadium was packed, it was a record crowd, and I could have filled it ten times, as you know,” Trump said during an Oval Office event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. “Those are incredible people, those are incredible patriots.”
On Sunday, Trump told Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came.”
The four women of color are American citizens, and Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, and Tlaib were all born in the United States. Trump has been widely condemned for invoking a racist trope against the members of Congress. Nevertheless, he has continued to attack them, especially Omar, all week.
While the White House, and Trump himself, have said he was not happy with the racist chant, Trump made clear on Friday that he has no issue with his supporters and clearly has no intention of stopping his smears of the congresswomen.
