Student at Dalton High School in Georgia immediately slammed the NRA and Trump after a teacher’s armed standoff at their school.

Following in the footsteps of students at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Dalton teens took to Twitter to point out the recklessness of Trump’s plan to arm teachers.

Speaking about the fear and confusion that arose as the incident occurred, the students stated what is obvious to many: Arming teachers is not a guarantee of safety.

Other students preemptively slammed anyone who might try to claim that they were just actors or that their nightmare was a hoax:

One student, Megan Robertson, directly addressed the NRA. “Today I had to run to safety as one of the most popular teachers in my school was armed and fired shots,” she tweeted. “This is intolerable! Gun control is required in today’s society.”

Another, Sarah Wakeman, was more blunt. “Dalton High School doesn’t want your prayers,” she tweeted. “We want change.”

Soon, the Parkland shooting survivors themselves were jumping into the discussion — like Emma Gonzalez, the student who so powerfully shamed the NRA and the politicians who take their money.

“There’sĀ been another shooting at Dalton High in Dalton, Georgia,” tweetedĀ Gonzalez. “LISTEN TO US FOR GOD’S SAKE, DO THE STUDENTS OF AMERICA REALLY MATTER THIS LITTLE TO YOU??? THE TIME TO TALK ABOUT GUN REFORM HAS PASSED THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW”

Once again, kids are speaking up after a terrifying episode to show what Trump, the NRA, and gun safety opponents refuse to acknowledge. Rather than make things safer, more guns on school grounds could bring more violence.
