Georgia teens take on NRA seconds after shooting at their school
Students at Dalton High School in Georgia were quick to call out the NRA and its enablers after another incident of gun violence.

Student at Dalton High School in Georgia immediately slammed the NRA and Trump after a teacher’s armed standoff at their school.
Following in the footsteps of students at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Dalton teens took to Twitter to point out the recklessness of Trump’s plan to arm teachers.
Speaking about the fear and confusion that arose as the incident occurred, the students stated what is obvious to many: Arming teachers is not a guarantee of safety.
@nra my favorite teacher at Dalton high school just blockaded his door and proceeded to shoot. We had to run out The back of the school in the rain. Students were being trampled and screaming. I dare you to tell me arming teachers will make us safe.

Other students preemptively slammed anyone who might try to claim that they were just actors or that their nightmare was a hoax:

Iâm a Dalton High School student. You canât tell me that what happened today is fake. You canât call what happened today a conspiracy. You werenât there and donât know the fear I had. To call my feelings fake and the ones of my fellows students is a joke. I was there you werenât.

Iâm a dalton high school student and that shit was scary as hell. Anyone who says these things are staged is an idiot. Arming teachers is not a good idea. I was at lunch w ab 300 other students and that was horrible.

One student, Megan Robertson, directly addressed the NRA. “Today I had to run to safety as one of the most popular teachers in my school was armed and fired shots,” she tweeted. “This is intolerable! Gun control is required in today’s society.”
Another, Sarah Wakeman, was more blunt. “Dalton High School doesn’t want your prayers,” she tweeted. “We want change.”
Soon, the Parkland shooting survivors themselves were jumping into the discussion â like Emma Gonzalez, the student who so powerfully shamed the NRA and the politicians who take their money.
“There’s been another shooting at Dalton High in Dalton, Georgia,” tweeted Gonzalez. “LISTEN TO US FOR GOD’S SAKE, DO THE STUDENTS OF AMERICA REALLY MATTER THIS LITTLE TO YOU??? THE TIME TO TALK ABOUT GUN REFORM HAS PASSED THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW”
Once again, kids are speaking up after a terrifying episode to show what Trump, the NRA, and gun safety opponents refuse to acknowledge. Rather than make things safer, more guns on school grounds could bring more violence.
