Trump falsely claims congresswoman of color 'partied' on 9/11 anniversary
Donald Trump retweeted a conservative comedian’s false claim that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) had been ‘partying’ on the anniversary of 9/11.
In his latest smear against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Donald Trump retweeted a minor conservative comedian and conspiracy theorist to falsely claim Omar had danced to Lizzo on the anniversary of September 11.
Trump attacked Omar, who he called “a member of AOC Plus 3,” suggesting that her dancing was inappropriate and would help Republicans win her home state in future elections. He mocked her as the “new face of the Democrat [sic] Party!”
He then retweeted a now-deleted video from a self-described “actor,” “comedian,” and “commentator” named Terrence K. Williams, who scolded Omar for “partying on the anniversary of 9/11.” He included a video shared on Twitter on Friday that shows Omar dancing to Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” at a Congressional Black Caucus event.
Omar, who has faced death threats since Trump began attacking her and demanding she and three other U.S. congresswomen of color leave the country and “go back home,” said Wednesday that the video was not from September 11, but rather from an event held over the weekend.
This is from a CBC event we hosted this weekend to celebrate black women in Congress.
The President of the United States is continuing to spread lies that put my life at risk.
