A third of the country is already suing Trump over his fake emergency

 “Contrary to the will of Congress, the president has used the pretext of a manufactured ‘crisis’’of unlawful immigration to declare a national emergency and redirect federal dollars appropriated for drug interdiction, military construction and law enforcement initiatives toward building a wall on the United States-Mexico border,” according to the lawsuit.

The states suing Trump are: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Virginia. All have Democratic attorneys general, and all but one — Maryland — have Democratic governors.

This isn’t the only lawsuit Trump is facing over his temper tantrum to try to get his border wall. Public interest groups Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and Public Citizen have already filed suits. And the American Civil Liberties Union announced it will file a lawsuit to challenge Trump’s fake emergency as well.

“By the president’s very own admission in the Rose Garden, there is no national emergency,” the ACLU said in a statement announcing their intent to sue. “He just grew impatient and frustrated with Congress, and decided to move along his promise for a border wall ‘faster.’ This is a patently illegal power grab that hurts American communities and flouts the checks and balances that are hallmarks of our democracy.”

House Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have vowed to investigate as well.

While Trump complained about the lawsuits in his rambling rant of a speech on Friday announcing his emergency declaration, those suing Trump have the public on their side.

A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released on Tuesday found that 61 percent of adults disapprove of his emergency declaration to build the wall. Similarly, 58 percent don’t believe there even is a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border, the survey found.

Trump’s fake national emergency is already proving itself to be a huge failure.
