Bigot Trump thinks "Hispanics" are so dumb they'll "fall in love" with him now

While Donald Trump spent Tuesday morning posting delusional and self-serving tweets, reality continues to intrude on his failed presidency. Facing the prospect of a Democratic wave in the 2018 midterms, Trump has now taken to insisting that Hispanic voters will “fall in love” with him, and with Republicans who support Trump’s bigoted rhetoric and policies:

The reality, of course, is that Trump launched his bid for the presidency by attacking Mexican immigrants as “rapists,” continued that campaign with relentlessly racist attacks on Hispanic people and others, campaigned on building a border wall that he promised would be paid for by Mexico, and as president, rescinded President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, leaving hundreds of thousands of Americans vulnerable to deportation.

That’s when he wasn’t mocking Hispanic accents at a Hispanic heritage event, or supporting a blatantly anti-Latino gubernatorial campaign.

Frankly, it’s a wonder Trump has held onto so much of his resentful white base after he immediately went back on his promise to force Mexico to pay for the border wall. Now, Trump is holding those DACA kids hostage in order to secure funding for the wall, and predicting that Hispanic voters will reward him for that effort.

Former Hillary Clinton adviser Neera Tanden summed up Trump’s prediction perfectly:

The Latino Victory Fund’s reaction was even more succinct:

Democrats, meanwhile, have consistently supported a fix for DACA recipients, and even came close to tricking Trump into a deal several months ago. The notion that anyone who cares about DREAMers would ever embrace Trump is as absurd as it gets, even for Trump.

The blue wave is coming, and Trump is powerless to stop it. If this tweet is to be believed, he’ll never know what hit him.
