Breitbart editor laments that "all of a sudden all these black people are getting awards"

Breitbart’s editors think it’s very unfair that disabled people and blacks have roles in entertainment.

Breitbart, the racist, pro-Trump outlet that propped up his candidacy and now does the same for his presidency, has once again revealed its true colors on race-related issues — and just like they’ve done before, top officials at the outlet are engaging in racist, bigoted behavior.

Appearing on their satellite radio show on Sirius XM, Breitbart editors Alex Marlow and John Nolte lamented that blacks and people with disabilities are thriving in the entertainment industry.

Breitbart editor-at-large Nolte complained about “Oscars so woke,” remarking that after the awards were called out for lacking diversity, “All of a sudden all these black people are getting awards.”

Nolte said the increase in black Oscar winners made him ask, “Is someone just trying to compensate?”

He concluded his rant noting, “Affirmative Action is a terrible, terrible thing, what it does and the way it makes you look at people.”

Marlow, Breitbart’s editor in chief, described a disabled actress who appeared in a production of “The Glass Menagerie” on Broadway as “unbelievable,” evidence of “revisionist history,” and “an affirmative action hire.”

He was referring to Madison Ferris, who has muscular dystrophy, and her work in the role of Laura in the play.

Breitbart is a repository of hate and discrimination — a conservative outlet centered around the idea of promoting white supremacy, anti-minority racism, and misogyny.

Trump’s former chief strategist and campaign chairman Steve Bannon referred to the site as a “platform for the alt-right,” the white supremacist movement that backed Trump’s candidacy.

For years, the site ran a “black crime” vertical designed to depict minorities as violent animals, and it promoted and hosted Milo Yiannopolous, who repeatedly produced anti-woman, anti-minority content at the site.

The site was launched by now-deceased founder Andrew Breitbart with a dishonest attack, working with serial hoaxster James O’Keefe, smearing the community group ACORN. ACORN was in Breitbart’s crosshairs because it helped an urban, minority community.

More recently, the site was at the forefront of defending Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, doing everything it could to try to delegitimize credible allegations of pedophilia against the Republican. Breitbart editor Joel B. Pollak even went on TV to argue that Moore’s alleged sexual contact with a teenager was OK because he was single at the time.

These latest comments on the radio show are just part of the right-wing media tradition of hate, embodied by sites like Breitbart and outlets like Fox News. They are a large part of the reason why Donald Trump appeals to conservatives, and why the movement’s problems with bigotry go well beyond his sphere of influence.
