Congresswoman: 'Everything that comes out of this White House is racist'

‘Mr. Trump is a white supremacist,’ says Rep. Frederica Wilson.

The white nationalist “Unite the Right” rally may have flopped in Washington, D.C. over the weekend. But Trump carried the racist torch forward on Tuesday morning by denigrating his former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman, a black woman, as a “dog.”

And Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) quickly called Trump out as the blatant racist that he has long shown himself to be.

“Mr. Trump is a white supremacist,” Wilson told CNN’s John Berman, after she was informed about Trump’s stunning tweet. “He has surrounded himself with white supremacists. Everything that comes out of that White House is racist.”

Berman, seeming surprised, asked Wilson if she thought everyone in the White House was a racist.

“Not everyone who works in the White House,” Wilson replied.

But she added a strong caveat: “You have to have some sort of value system, and it has to align itself with racism — otherwise you wouldn’t be able to exist in the White House. It is that thick. It is that clear.”

Trump has gone especially out of his way this summer to lob race-baiting attacks, such as insulting the intelligence of prominent African Americans like LeBron James and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA).

Of course, Trump’s racism is a long and hateful pattern.

After a white supremacist killed Heather Heyer at a racist riot in Charlottesville, Va., last summer, Trump stubbornly claimed that “both sides” were to blame for such violence.

And Trump certainly seems to have a deep hatred for well-known black women.

He demanded the firing of Jemele Hill, the black ESPN reporter who accurately called Trump a white supremacist. He singled out AURN White House correspondent April Ryan as an “enemy” in a campaign ad, and bullied her at a press conference.

And Wilson herself has also been the target of this White House’s ugly taunts.

Trump’s chief of staff John Kelly smeared Wilson after she accurately reported on Trump’s belated, insulting call to one of Wilson’s constituents — Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson, one of the four U.S. troops killed during an ISIS-led ambush in Niger last year.

Kelly called Wilson “selfish,” and also told reporters a blatant lie about a 2015 speech she gave in order to paint her as a shallow publicity hound. He claimed she bragged about personally securing funding for a new FBI building, when video of her speech proves that she did no such thing.

Even though Kelly’s story was quickly and publicly proven to be a lie and a smear, Kelly has still never apologized for his baseless attack on the black congresswoman.

And Kelly’s behavior only confirmed Wilson’s claim on Tuesday: that in order to work for Trump, something is deeply wrong with your values.
