Corey Lewandowski mocks child with Down syndrome separated from parents

Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski mocked a report Tuesday about a young girl with Down syndrome who was forcibly separated from her parents and “put in a cage” as part of the Trump administration’s attack on immigrant families.

Lewandowski made the unthinkably cruel remarks during an appearance on Fox News Tuesday evening, after Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas recounted the story of the young girl, which was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

“I read today about a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome who was taken from her mother and put in a cage,” Petkanas said.

Rolling his eyes, Lewandowski responded, “Womp, womp.”

“Did you just say ‘womp, womp’ to a 10-year-old with Down syndrome being taken from her mother?” Petkanas shot back. “How dare you!”

Lewandowski tried to backpedal on his remarks after realizing that he had accidentally let his inner depravity slip out uncensored, but the damage was done.

As disgusting and reprehensible as his comments are, they aren’t exactly a surprise.

Lewandowski is known for being crass and at times unhinged — so much so that he was escorted out by a security guard when he was fired from the Trump campaign.

He also faced misdemeanor battery charges for allegedly assaulting a female reporter, and was later accused of sexual assault by pro-Trump singer Joy Villa.

And lest we forget, he was the campaign manager for the guy who openly mocked a disabled reporter at a campaign rally.
