Hundreds of ISIS prisoners escape from Syrian prisons after Trump pulls troops from the region

Trump is blaming the Kurds for the prison break.

Trump has made ISIS great again.

Hundreds of family members of ISIS fighters escaped from a prison in Syria, according to multiple reports.

The escape came after Trump rashly announced a decision to pull troops from the region, abandoning the United States’ Kurdish allies who had been guarding the prisons.

Instead of standing watch over the prisons, Kurdish forces instead find themselves trying to ward off attacks by Turkish forces — who invaded Kurdish territory in Syria after Trump gave Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the green light.

It’s something that intelligence officials predicted that is now coming true.

Military officials told the New York Times they are “ashamed” of Trump’s decision to abandon the Kurds and that pulling the U.S. troops from the region threatens to roll back all the progress the military made to eradicate ISIS.

“There is blood on Trump’s hands for abandoning our Kurdish allies,” John Allen, a retired four-star Marine general, told CNN on Sunday.

Even Republicans who carry Trump’s water, including some GOP members of Congress like Sen. Lindsey Graham and Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade, are calling Trump’s move a mistake.

Yet, true to form, rather than take any responsibility for his actions, Trump is blaming the Kurds for the ISIS prison break — baselessly claiming that the Kurds are purposefully releasing the ISIS prisoners as leverage, even as the Kurds are under attack.

Brian Kilmeade over at @foxandfriends got it all wrong,” Trump tweeted Monday morning, adding, “Kurds may be releasing some to get us involved.”

Trump’s decision has been an utter disaster: For the Kurds who are being slaughtered, for the future of the United States’ ability to woo allies across the world, and for the fight against ISIS, which Trump has set back, making the world a less safe place.
