GOP anchor on the head of her party: "I have this physical feeling of being just repulsed."

Donald Trump initially tried to stay agnostic, but on Tuesday, after a week of his officials taking an increasingly pro-Moore stance, he gave an enthusiastic and repugnant defense of the candidate.

“Well, he denies it. Look, he denies it,” Trump said when pressed by reporters about his stance on Moore.

And he made it clear that, just like Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, he thinks electing a Democrat is a far worse fate than putting an accused child molester in Congress.

“I can tell you one thing for sure: we don’t need a liberal person in there, a Democrat, Jones,” he insisted, before rounding off his comments by rambling about how “special” women are and claiming that he’s “very happy a lot of these things are coming out.”

News commentators were aghast at Trump’s full-throated defense of an alleged child molester, but few more so than Republican Nicolle Wallace, who shared her horror at what her party has become in the Trump era:

I — I have this physical feeling of being just repulsed, listening to — be it a figurehead, he is the head of the Republican Party, and I’ve described myself as a non-practicing member, but I don’t know what other word to use, other than repulsed, that the head of the Republican Party today essentially threw his weight behind someone accused of stalking and engaging in sexual activity with a fourteen-year-old.

Trump’s defense of Moore is indeed disgusting, though nothing about it is surprising. He has a long history of sexual assault allegations behind him as well, and notoriously bragged on tape about it.

And his administration has done everything they could to dismiss or play down the seriousness of the allegations against Moore.

Wallace’s reaction is shared by any decent human being of any party. Trump is covering for an accused sexual predator in order to keep control of the country.

No person or party who supports such a man has any moral credibility to govern.
