Ivanka could be in trouble for breaking the law to help her dad

Ivanka Trump violated federal law just like Kellyanne Conway did.

A complaint was filed Thursday with the Official of Special Counsel (OSC) requesting an investigation into Ivanka Trump for violating federal law.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) revealed Ivanka Trump is in violation of the Hatch Act, a law that bars federal employees from using their office to promote partisan political activities, citing a June 16 tweet she posted focusing on her father’s campaign and his official slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

The tweet lauded Trump for launching “a Campaign that would forever change America” and prominently featured a campaign banner.

“These actions were directed specifically toward the success or failure of Donald J. Trump, a candidate in a partisan election,” CREW stated in their letter. “By sharing these posts on a Twitter account that Ms. Trump uses for official government business, Ms. Trump engaged in political activity prohibited by law.”

Ivanka Trump is an employee of the federal government in her role as an unpaid adviser to her father. The Twitter account she used to post the campaign message identifies her as “Advisor to POTUS on job creation + economic empowerment, workforce development & entrepreneurship.”

CREW noted in their referral that Ivanka Trump has used her Twitter account for official government purposes since March 2017.

“The profile photo on the account is an image of Ms. Trump at an official event with the South Korean president,” the watchdog group noted, making the case that the account is clearly intertwined with her federal office.

This is part of a criminal pattern within the Trump administration.

The OSC recommended last week that Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway be removed from her position for violating the same law.

The office noted that Conway repeatedly misused her federal position, “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media.”

“Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system — the rule of law,” the Office noted in a report.

CREW pointed out that Ivanka Trump is in the same class as Conway.

“By blatantly using her office for politics right after the Office of Special Counsel recommended her colleague be fired for repeatedly acting similarly, Ivanka Trump has basically thumbed her nose at the OSC and the rule of law,” said CREW executive director Noah Bookbinder. “Never before have we witnessed this level of illegal politicized behavior, and it must not be allowed to continue.”

Breaking the law is the norm in the Trump administration. Trump has no regard for the law and his underlings, like Conway and his daughter Ivanka, march in lockstep with his criminality.
