Biden destroys Trump for ripping 'babies away from mothers and fathers'
Former Vice President Joe Biden spoke with passion and moral clarity about Trump’s ongoing cruelty to children.
Lately, Trump’s troubles with Russia and his former “fixer” have been overshadowing the ongoing family separation crisis caused by his administration. But former Vice President Joe Biden just delivered a forceful reminder that Trump’s cruel policies are still causing great suffering and ripping our country apart.
Biden blasted Trump’s immigration policy as “one of the darkest moments in our history” in a speech this weekend at the national convention for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
Biden said that Trump’s cruel zero tolerance policy “strikes at the dignity of us as a nation” because it “literally rip babies from the arms of their mothers and fathers.”
Trump’s barbaric treatment of families seeking asylum is part of his administration’s “all-out assault on human dignity,” Biden said.
Biden blasted Trump for his “grotesque lies” about immigrants — particularly his lies blaming immigrants for crime and economic woes, despite overwhelming evidence that immigrants are a boon to the U.S. economy and commit even fewer crimes than U.S. citizens do.
Biden also told the crowd that he has traveled to Europe and Central America recently, and that “our reputation is being tarnished around the world” as a result of Trump’s cruel policies and his disgusting lies about immigrants.
International fury over Trump’s treasonous summit with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki has pushed Trump’s cruel family separation policy out of the headlines — but perhaps not for long.
In late June, a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to reunite all of the families it ripped apart within 30 days.
That deadline expires in just a few days.
The Trump administration has already missed the deadline for reuniting children under the age of five with their parents.
As of this past Thursday, the administration had only reunited 364 of the more than 2,500 children who were ripped away from their parents thanks to Trump’s cruelty.
And while news organizations may be temporarily focused on other things, public pressure over the crisis has not relented.
At a recent political rally, Vice President Mike Pence was repeatedly interrupted by protesters asking, “Where are the children?”
Trump may have a talent for creating a new disgrace every week — but Americans aren’t about to forget about the children and parents who have been hurt by Trump’s racist policies.
