Trump casually threatens 'obliteration' of Iran after its leader calls him 'idiotic'
Trump’s response to personal insults from a foreign leader is to threaten a massive war.
Trump threatened Iran with “obliteration” hours after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called Trump “mentally crippled” and insulted Trump’s foreign policy as “idiotic.”
Rather than address the nation from a stately location such as the Rose Garden or Oval Office, Trump unleashed his violent tirade against Iran on Twitter.
“Iran leadership doesn’t understand the words ‘nice’ or ‘compassion,’ they never have,” Trump tweeted. “Sadly, the thing they do understand is Strength and Power, and the USA is by far the most powerful Military Force in the world, with 1.5 Trillion Dollars invested over the last two years alone.”
“Iran’s very ignorant and insulting statement, put out today, only shows that they do not understand reality,” Trump went on. “Any attack by Iran on anything American will be met with great and overwhelming force. In some areas, overwhelming will mean obliteration. No more John Kerry & Obama!”
Trump’s threat to “obliterate” part or all of Iran came in response to a televised address by Rouhani in which Rouhani used harsh language to describe both Trump’s foreign policy and his mental acuity. The Washington Post reported that Rouhani called Trump “mentally crippled,” while the Associated Press reported that Rouhani said the Trump White House has been “afflicted by mental retardation.”
Rouhani called new sanctions the U.S. will be imposing, announced by Trump on Monday, “outrageous and idiotic.”
Trump’s response to personal insults was to threaten all-out war during a time with tensions with Iran are already running high. Just last Friday, Trump claims he narrowly stopped an airstrike against Iran, which would have been in retaliation for Iran shooting down an unmanned U.S. drone. Trump’s cheerleading squad on “Fox and Friends” is trying to goad him into war by calling him weak for not taking action after the drone was shot down.
Trump is threatening to take America to war because his ego can’t handle insults from world leaders. That’s neither stable nor genius.
