Trump whines it’s ‘unfair’ to his fans to cancel rally over hurricane

Trump cares more about performing for his worshipful fans than about protecting Americans.

As the dangerous Hurricane Michael bears down on the Florida Panhandle, Trump wants to go ahead with his Pennsylvania campaign rally because canceling it would be “unfair” to his followers.

During a photo op with reporters and emergency management officials Wednesday afternoon, Trump was asked if he had any plans to adjust his travel schedule in light of the potentially deadly storm.

“Well, we don’t know, I was going to Pennsylvania, it looks like there are thousands of people who are already lined up, and probably we’ll do that tonight,” Trump said. “We have thousands of people going tonight, they’ve already — many are there already.”

“Are you going to go ahead with the rally?” another reporter asked Trump.

“Well I don’t know what to do, because you have so many people already there, and it’s sort of unfair to them,” Trump replied.

Trump insisted that even if he went ahead with the rally, he would be “totally focused” on the storm.

Contrary to Trump’s claims, video taken shortly before Trump’s photo op shows a few dozen, not “thousands,” of rally-goers lining up for the rally at the Erie Insurance Arena.

And according to the Erie Times reporter on the scene, those attendees were urged to show up early by the campaign.

Trump has made a disgusting habit of politicizing hurricanes.

During his first storm season in office, Trump used hurricane photo ops to promote his campaign hats and treated his visit to storm-ravaged Texas like a campaign rally.

His response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico was a never-ending display of shameful self-promotion mixed with insults to Puerto Ricans and their leaders.

Earlier this year, Trump diverted millions of dollars intended for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in order to fund his cruel policy of ripping toddlers away from their parents and locking them up in baby jails.

And just this week, Trump attacked Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum at a campaign rally even as Hurricane Michael threatens Tallahassee.

Now, with disaster just hours away, Trump is consumed with how “unfair” it would be for his fans to miss yet another of his vicious campaign rallies.

Those fans will recover, but Trump’s disgraceful priorities will not be forgotten.
