White House aides fear disastrously low turnout at Trump’s July 4 celebration of himself

The tanks are in place; the fighter jets are ready to fly; the fireworks are ready for deployment; and your taxpayer dollars have been spent for Trump’s egotistical July 4 “salute” to himself at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

All the wildly inappropriate political event lacks is … people wanting to attend.

Politico reported on Wednesday that top officials at both the White House and Republican National Committee are freaking out that no one is going to show up to Trump’s speech on Thursday.

In fact, they worry that the paltry crowd size at the event will be reminiscent of Trump’s disastrous Inauguration Day attendance — which angered Trump so much that he demanded then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer to lie to the public about the size of the crowd gathered to watch Trump be sworn in.

In order to avoid the disaster of meager attendance, the RNC is trying to hand out VIP tickets to donors — yet another extremely inappropriate piece of what should be a nonpartisan, taxpayer-funded event.

But even that might not bolster crowd size, as Republican donors contacted by Politico said most people already had plans before this ridiculous event was finalized, and that people simply won’t show up.

“There are questions about the ticket distribution and who will show up. The weather might be bad. Heads are spinning,” one unnamed White House official told Politico.

In order to try and salvage the event, the White House let staffers in the building enter a lottery to get up to 10 tickets, Politico reported. Allowing staff to get that many tickets is a clear sign this isn’t the hottest ticket in town.

Ultimately, Trump’s event is already a public relations disaster.

But it might get even worse when hardly anyone shows up to hear what’s sure to be a grotesque political speech from Trump on what should be a nonpartisan day to celebrate American independence.
