66 percent of Americans hate the way Trump is trying to take away their health care

In a new poll from Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, filled with terrible numbers for Trump — including a stunning 65 percent who think he has little or no respect for America’s “democratic institutions and traditions” — nothing is worse for Trump than his attempt to destroy health care.

A full 66 percent of Americans disapprove of how he is handling his dreadful agenda to repeal Obamacare and replace it with tax cuts for the rich. Even a third of Republicans disapprove.

It isn’t surprising that Americans are displeased with the way Trump and his fellow Republicans are trying to ram through a disastrous health care bill that would, among other things, kick 23 million Americans off coverage. Obamacare is popular, and the Republican plan to undo it is decidedly not.

But that didn’t stop House Republicans from passing their draconian bill, and it’s not deterring Senate Republicans from trying to write their own substantively similar version in secret, without allowing any hearings or any participation from Senate Democrats. The bill is so secret, in fact, that Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price has not even seen it.

But if Americans already disapprove of this disastrous threat to their health care now, they are certainly not going to feel any better about it the bill is signed into law and its terrible consequences start to affect millions of Americans.

The plan to repeal health care is bad news for everyday Americans. But it’s also very bad news for Trump.
