Ocasio-Cortez slams Fox News host for comparing detention camp abuse to a house party
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade said the deplorable conditions at Trump’s detention camps were just like a house party.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) slammed Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday after he compared the conditions at Trump’s detention camps to a “house party.”
Kilmeade made his comments while discussing the overcrowding of detainee facilities, highlighted by a visit on Monday by congressional Democrats.
“Picture yourself, you have a house, family of five. You have a party, you have 30 people over,” Kilmeade said.
“Maybe you have a big party and you have 100 people over and you have two and a half baths. In the beginning, it would be OK with 30. Then after 100 people, it would be a little bit taxed, maybe you got to get an outdoor facility. Can you picture 5,000? You can have the best facilities in the world but they are so overstocked.”
The host on Trump’s favorite TV show went on to regurgitate the administration’s bogus excuses for the conditions at the facility. But much of the strife has occurred due to Trump’s anti-immigrant crackdown, including stealing children from their families.
Soon after Kilmeade’s comments circulated online, Ocasio-Cortez called him out.
“What was the last ‘party’ you went to where you: Were locked in a cage under armed guard. Drank out of a toilet & given food of such poor nutritional value, for so long, that it gave you mouth sores?” she wrote.
The inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security recently found excessive overcrowding and unhygienic conditions at an immigrant processing center in Texas. There is a pattern of behavior at these facilities, no matter how Kilmeade tried to downplay it.
The Trump administration and their allies at propaganda outlets like Fox News are attempting to minimize or ignore the depravity of what is occurring at taxpayer expense.
Leaders like Ocasio-Cortez keep puncturing holes in the deceit deployed by the right while desperate people are suffering.
