Bodyguard who arranged Trump's trysts being paid by GOP slush fund
Trump’s private security guard is receiving $15,000 a month from the RNC.
The Republican Party has set up a “slush fund” to transfer thousands of dollars to Trump’s private bodyguard, Keith Schiller.
Schiller is the same man who reportedly arranged Trump’s extramarital trysts with porn star Stormy Daniels.
CNBC reports that after Schiller left his White House job, the Republican National Committee began paying $15,000 a month for “security services” to his private security firm, KS Global Group.
The deal with Schiller’s firm ostensibly relates to the selection process for the 2020 Republican National Convention, and the funds are coming from the committee’s convention fund.
“These sorts of party accounts are notorious for being operated as slush funds, lightly regulated and ripe for abuse,” said Stephen Spaulding, chief of strategy for the government watchdog group Common Cause and former special counsel at the Federal Election Commission.
So far, the RNC has paid Schiller $75,000. If the agreement stays in place until the 2020 convention, he will have earned $500,000 from RNC donors.
Daniels told Life & Style magazine that Schiller was her contact person when she and Trump were having an affair. “Keith was always with him. That’s how I got in touch with him,” she said. “I never had Donald’s cellphone number. I always used Keith’s.”
In October 2016, Trump’s personal lawyer Michael D. Cohen paid Daniels $130,000, funneled through a private limited liability company that Cohen formed.
Paul S. Ryan of Common Cause described the payment to Daniels as “hush money” and contends the funds were “an in-kind contribution” to Trump’s presidential campaign.
The payment was reportedly in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement to buy Daniels’ silence.
When special counsel Robert Mueller questioned Schiller about Trump’s reported trysts in Russia, Schiller denied knowledge.
The RNC previously paid for Trump’s legal defense in connection with the Russia probe. It has also been used to book rooms at Trump’s D.C. hotel.
Now, a bodyguard with direct knowledge of Trump’s most intimate activities is getting thousands of dollars a month from the RNC.
It is a sordid and unethical arrangement — and standard operating procedure under Trump.
