Federal watchdog: Kellyanne Conway keeps breaking the law and should be 'removed'
The Office of Special Counsel said Kellyanne Conway should be ‘removed from federal service’ for repeatedly violating the law.
Kellyanne Conway is not only a liar, she’s also a lawbreaker, and one who a federal watchdog says should be fired from the Trump administration for repeatedly violating the law.
The Office of Special Counsel — which “protects federal employees and applicants from prohibited personnel practices” — recommended on Thursday that Trump fire Conway for repeatedly violating the Hatch Act. According to Politico, the OSC has never in history made such a recommendation for a White House official.
The Hatch Act bars certain federal employees from “engaging in partisan political activity” as part of their official government role.
And the OSC says Conway has broken this law over and over again by “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media.”
“Ms. Conway’s violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act’s restrictions,” the OSC wrote in a report. “Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system — the rule of law.”
Conway knows she’s violating the law when she disparages Democrats in her official White House capacity, but she simply doesn’t care.
“Blah, blah, blah,” Conway said in May, when reporters pointed out to her that she was breaking the law by attacking Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Trump, however, is unlikely to discipline Conway for breaking the law.
He’s let her Hatch Act violations slide multiple times before.
Not to mention, Trump flagrantly violates the rule of law on a constant basis, including on Wednesday when he admitted that he’d collude with a hostile foreign government to win reelection in 2020.
The Republican Party always tried to claim it was the party of law and order.
But now, it’s clearly the party of lawlessness.
