Trump's favorite Fox News show admits he failed in Putin meeting
‘He fell short,’ said ‘Fox & Friends’ co-host Brian Kilmeade.
If Trump was hoping to find some shelter from his Russia storm on Tuesday morning by tuning into his favorite news program, “Fox & Friends,” he was likely jolted by what he saw.
“He fell short,” announced co-host Brian Kilmeade, criticizing Trump’s jaw-dropping capitulation to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As the White House scrambles to recover from Trump’s disastrous joint press conference with Putin on Monday in Helsinki, Finland, the political damage is spreading.
That was clear by watching “Fox & Friends,” where Trump’s loyal defenders announced he had failed when he sided with the Kremlin over his own U.S. intelligence community, which concluded Russian operatives attacked America’s election process in 2016.
“Well, and you’re standing next to Vladimir Putin whose ultimate goal in life is to undermine our democracy,” stressed Fox News’ Abby Huntsman. “So it was that one moment that had you to stand up for your own country, to stand up for your intelligence community. As we said this morning he did not do that.”
And it wasn’t one or two wayward comments from “Fox & Friends” hosts that were critical of Trump. All three hosts hit the same theme: Trump screwed up.
“That moment is the one that’s going to stand out unless he comes out and corrects it,” added Kilmeade.
Kilmeade even made sure to tweet out a video of the segment, suggesting Fox News wanted to amplify its morning show rebuke of the White House.
The “Fox & Friends” reproach follows yesterday’s condemnation of Trump from Fox host Neil Cavuto.
“A U.S. president on foreign soil, talking to our biggest enemy or adversary or competitor — I don’t know how we define them these days — is essentially letting the guy get away with this, and not even offering a mild criticism,” Cavuto said. “That sets us back a lot.”
For now, it Trump wants blind support in terms of colluding with Russia, he’s going to have to stick with Sean Hannity.
