- Here is some more exciting news. The race for Virginia governor is heating up, and the state’s GOP has launched some extremely vicious attacks on Democrat Ralph Northam, currently the state’s lieutenant governor. But they’re not working:

- Speaking of elections, Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day. But in case you missed it, it’s not too late to make sure you are registered to vote. The Democratic National Committee has a super easy tool to help you. So if you’re not already registered, now is the time.

- Hillary Clinton is not even president — despite winning 3 million more votes than Donald Trump — but she’s still looking out for Americans:
As the devastation from Hurricane Maria became more apparent Sunday, former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton implored President Trump and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to help the people of Puerto Rico. Send the Navy, she tweeted, especially the hospital ship USNS Comfort.
Two days later, Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Brock Long announced that the Navy will soon do exactly that.
- The fight to save health care might be over — for now — but Trump and the Republicans are moving on to tax cuts for billionaires. So there is still more work to be done to stop them:
President Trump, Republican leaders in Congress and a massive special-interest lobbying machine (run by the Koch brothers and corporate America) are gearing up to give massive tax breaks to millionaires and wealthy corporations. They want to pay for them by cutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public education and other critical services for working families.
President Trump and Republican leaders have proposed budgets that would slash between $4 trillion and $6 trillion from those services we all depend on—just so that they can afford huge tax cuts of similar amounts that would further enrich billionaires and big corporations and encourage the offshoring of jobs. This is the health care fight all over again. We can win, but only if we all speak out.
A coalition of progressive groups are working to make sure the GOP’s plan to give tax cuts to the rich fails just as badly as the plan to get health care. Sign the petition to tell Congress to reject a budget that cuts Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public education and much more while giving massive tax breaks to the rich and powerful.
