Nancy Pelosi calls Steve Bannon a "white supremacist" three times in one day

Trump recently gave Bannon a permanent seat on the National Security Council, while downgrading the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and members of the Defense Department to a “need to know” basis, hinging on invitations from the president. Pelosi condemned those moves in both her daily briefing and in a later forum on Trump’s immigration ban:

What’s making America less safe is to have a white supremacist named to the National Security Council as a permanent member, while the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Director of National Intelligence are told, ‘Don’t call us, we’ll call you. You’re no longer permanent members. We’ll call you when we need — whatever judgment they make about when they want them to come back. It’s a stunning thing that a white supremacist — Bannon — would be a permanent member of the National Security Council, and dismissing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Director of National Security — excuse me, National Intelligence — as permanent members.

Pelosi later repeated this argument in front of a House Democrats’ public forum on Trump’s immigration ban, again explicitly calling Bannon, the former executive chair of alt-right hub Breitbart News, a white supremacist.

Her willingness to call out the dangerous and hateful ideology of Trump’s close advisor and now National Security Council member is a fiery reminder to Democrats just who and what they are dealing with: This is not a normal presidency by any stretch of the imagination.
