North Korea celebrates after getting everything it wants from Trump
North Korea is declaring victory through its propaganda outlets after the nation bested Trump at the summit.
North Korea is celebrating the propaganda coup it was handed after the summit between Kim Jong Un and Trump.
Korean Central Television, the official state broadcaster for the repressive regime, began its broadcast about the summit with a brag about Trump’s concession.
Anchor Ri Chun-hee told the audience, “The U.S. president expressed his intention to halt the U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises, which the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) side regards as provocation.”

After the summit, Trump announced the U.S. would halt military exercises with the South Korean government, echoing years of North Korean propaganda by referring to them as “provocative.”
The North Korean government is also trumpeting how Trump agreed to “simultaneous action” between America and the rogue nation on denuclearization.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency said, “Kim Jong Un and Trump had the shared recognition to the effect that it is important to abide by the principle of step-by-step and simultaneous action in achieving peace, stability and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”
The pronouncements show a nation clearly believing it got the best of Trump, who bragged about not preparing for the summit before it took place. Trump claimed “my touch, my feel” would allow him to determine Kim’s openness to negotiations.
Despite the comments from the North Korean government, Trump falsely tweeted “there is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.”
But there is. Trump gave North Korea the prestige of standing shoulder to shoulder with the world’s last remaining superpower. And then he signed an agreement that has no legal heft or enforcement regarding nuclear weapons.
And now North Korea, realizing they took Trump to the cleaners, is crowing about the diplomatic victory they secured.
For the sake of another Trump photo op, North Korea won a propaganda coup and the U.S. lost an opportunity to make the world more secure.
