Trump disgraced as North Korea ridicules his 'regrettable' diplomacy
North Korea called the U.S. ‘gangster-like’ after the Trump team tried to claim ‘progress’ with the rogue nation, exposing Trump’s alleged success in negotiations as a blatant lie.
North Korea released a statement following meetings with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that revealed just how disconnected from reality Trump’s rhetoric on the recent U.S.-North Korea nuclear talks has been.
Soon after Pompeo went to the press Saturday to claim he had “productive conversations” and that “progress” has been made, North Korea released an official statement saying the talks had been “worrisome” and said the U.S. delegation had brought up “cancerous issues.” The rogue nation said that its “willingness to denuclearize could falter.”
Just two days before, Trump was reiterating his fantasies about his diplomatic skills to rallygoers in Montana.
He told attendees, “We signed a wonderful paper saying they’re going to denuclearize their whole thing. It’s going to all happen.”
Trump also tweeted around the same time, “All of Asia is thrilled. Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining. If not for me, we would now be at War with North Korea!”
Trump has never had a handle on North Korea, and his strange commentary since the summit reveal how unfit he is to tackle an issue that puts millions of lives are at stake.
He bragged that he would rely on “my touch, my feel” rather than briefings and expert advice.
Then he proceeded to give North Korea a propaganda coup by standing in front of the world with Kim Jong Un as an equal, saluting a foreign general, and leaving South Korea out to dry by ending military exercises.
Trump compounded the international embarrassment by then claiming North Korea was denuclearizing. Reports from intelligence agencies almost immediately showed that was not happening.
North Korea took Trump to the cleaners. He lied about it, and now it is all blowing up in his face. Unfortunately, it isn’t just a personal embarrassment.
The safety of America and its key allies has been compromised, while America’s reputation for diplomacy is being tossed our recklessly. All Trump can do in response is to tweet more lies.
