Trump blames Democrats as his racist immigration policies backfire
Trump implemented new policies that ripped apart immigrant families and exposed children to human traffickers. After a national outcry blasted him for it, he lied and blamed it all on Democrats.

Trump is facing massive national backlash for his decision to rip apart immigrant families, so he decided to use the holiday weekend to blame the fallout on Democrats.
In a tweet, Trump ranted, “Put pressure on the Democrats to end the horrible law that separates children from there parents once they cross the Border into the U.S.”
Once again, he is lying.
Trump has referred to immigrants as “animals” and “rapists.” His new policy of family separation walked in tandem with his own brutal rhetoric about human beings.
Trump’s administration of its own volition chose to implement the policy that separates families attempting to cross the border.
Trump chose to increase prosecutions of border crossers. Once he did that, it triggered the family separations. The decision to be more aggressive on prosecutions was made by Trump, and thus he owns the aftermath.
Doris Meissner, senior fellow at the Migration Policy Institute, told the New York Times at the time: “What is notable about this is that they are taking into criminal proceedings first–time crossers, which has generally not been the case in the past.”
His attorney general Jeff Sessions made the details of the policy clear at a law enforcement conference in Arizona: “If you are smuggling a child then we will prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you as required by law.”
His chief of staff John Kelly defended the harsh policy in an NPR interview: “The big point is they elected to come illegally into the United States, and this is a technique that no one hopes will be used extensively or for very long.”
The Trump team even used a set of phony numbers to argue that the attack on families would lead to an overall decrease in immigration.
Now immigrant children are being thrown into a system that has already lost track of over 1,400 people. Already, human traffickers are taking advantage of the situation, and Trump’s decision to ramp up prosecutions feeds right into their clutches.
There has been a national outcry as the real-world results of Trump’s cruel policy has come to light. He never wants to deal with the backlash to his ideas, so he has chosen to try to blame Democrats.
But this crisis was put in motion by Trump, motivated by his own racism and the zeal to appease racist voters that back him.
This is all on him.
