Watch Trump get shut down by protester: 'You can't send us back'

Trump was forced into silence as a protester interrupted his speech in Virginia on Tuesday to shame him for his racist attacks.

“Heading to Jamestown, Virginia. Word is the Democrats will make it as uncomfortable as possible, but that’s ok because today is not about them!” Trump wrote before he made the trip from the White House to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first representative legislative assembly.

So a protester took him up on his challenge.

“Mr. President, you can’t send us back. Virginia is our home,” the protester shouted, holding up signs saying “Deport Hate” and “Reunite My Family.” Trump had to stop his speech as the man spoke and was clearly not happy about being interrupted.

The protester was Virginia Del. Ibraheem Samirah, who released a statement after the event, saying he interrupted Trump “because nobody’s racism and bigotry should be excused for the sake of being polite.”

“The man is unfit for office and unfit to partake in a celebration of democracy, representation, and our nation’s history of immigrants,” Samirah added.

Trump has been under fire for his weeks of racist attacks on four Democratic congresswomen of color who he said should “get out” of the country. Trump refused to condemn his supporters at a recent rally in North Carolina, who chanted “send her back” about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), an American citizen.

Trump has made things worse by making racist attacks against the city of Baltimore and its Democratic congressman, Rep. Elijah Cummings, who is also chair of the House Oversight Committee and has been conducting a number of investigations into the potential crimes of Trump and his family.

The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus issued a statement Monday, explaining that they were boycotting the event.

“The participation of the President is antithetical to the principles for which the caucus stands,” the group said. “The commemoration of the birth of this nation and its democracy will be tarnished unduly with the participation of the President, who continues to make degrading comments toward minority leaders, promulgate policies that harm marginalized communities, and use racist and xenophobic rhetoric.”
