Backlash to Lewandowski mocking a disabled child hits him where it hurts

Trump confidante and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski just lost a lucrative contract worth thousands of dollars in speaking fees.

Top Washington, D.C.-based speakers bureau Leading Authorities, Inc. dropped Lewandowski after he mocked a child with Down syndrome this week.

CNN reports that a source familiar with the bureau confirmed the end of Lewandowski’s association, and his name has been scrubbed from the company’s website.

Many political and media figures earn tens of thousands of dollars from paid speeches.

Former campaign officials with similar resumes to Lewandowski from both the Republican and Democratic parties work for Leading Authorities.

People like former Obama campaign and administration officials Stephanie Cutter and Josh Earnest, along with Romney and Bush officials like Nicole Wallace and Dana Perino, are listed as available for booking on the company’s website.

Their speaking fees range from $10,000 for a local speech to $75,000 or more for a speech overseas.

Leading Authorities’ decision to drop Lewandowski comes amid backlash to the outrageously cruel remarks he made earlier this week during an appearance on Fox News.

Echoing the Trump administration’s callous approach to immigration, Lewandowski ridiculed a recent story about a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome who was taken from her family.

Upon hearing the story, he responded by rolling his eyes and making a “womp womp” noise.

He doubled down on the callous comment in a subsequent interview during which he refused to apologize and described stripping the child away from her parents as “accountability for committing crimes.”

Like Trump, Lewandowski does not back down even when he is caught on video engaging in vile and reprehensible behavior.

But while he doesn’t see anything wrong with his indefensible remarks, his agent at the speakers bureau clearly does — and now, the heartless comments are coming back to bite him.
