GOP affirms embrace of pedophilia as crowd boos criticism of Roy Moore

Attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) made it very clear that they still support accused pedophile Roy Moore.

Moore was the Republican Party’s nominee in the special U.S. Senate election in Alabama in 2017. During the campaign, several credible allegations of sexual predation and child abuse surfaced against him.

Yet Moore still had the support of many within the Republican Party, including Trump. He ultimately lost to Democrat Doug Jones.

But CPAC attendees were vocally angry at the idea that an accused serial predator and child abuser ought to be shunned from the party.

During a panel on feminism and conservatism, National Review columnist Mona Charen called out Trump’s history of abusive behavior and criticized conservatives for backing Moore.

“I’m disappointed in people on our side for being hypocrites about sexual harassers and abusers of women who are in our party, who are sitting in the White House. Who brag about their extramarital affairs, who brag about mistreating women and because he happens to have an ‘R’ after his name, we look the other way, we don’t complain,” Charen said.

“This is a party that was ready to endorse, the Republican Party endorsed, Roy Moore for the Senate in the state of Alabama, even though he was a credibly accused child molester,” she added. “You cannot claim that you stand for women and put up with that.”

The audience responded by loudly booing Charen, and one person yelled, “Not true!”

Charen reportedly had to be escorted out of the venue under protection by three security guards after her speech.

Her moral clarity could not break through the stubborn defiance from far-right conservatives. The response from the audience to her comments shows that the GOP is still going all in on defending pedophilia.
