Fox host's answer to Flynn's guilty plea: Arrest President Obama
Special counsel Robert Mueller’s footsteps are ringing loudly in Donald Trump’s ears, and rattling Trump’s defenders into some of the most desperate spin we’ve seen yet. On the heels of disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s guilty plea Friday, Trump himself cluelessly insisted that Flynn’s guilty plea somehow proved there was “no collusion,” after which he blithely admitted to the world that he knew Flynn was guilty of lying to the FBI weeks before he fired him.
Trump’s Fox News defenders have fared just as poorly. Host Laura Ingraham greeted the news of Flynn’s guilty plea by claiming that it proves Trump deserves all the credit he takes for President Barack Obama’s economy:
If Trump has no impact on the economy, then why did news about Michael Flynn cause markets to fall? That would seem to indicate that investors have faith in POTUS, and want him to stay in charge.

But with Flynn placing Trump’s entire administration in legal jeopardy, there is perhaps no more Trumpian response than that of Fox Business host Lou Dobbs.
In the wake of the Flynn bombshell, Dobbs spent his Friday night wishing that the federal government would lock President Obama up for daring to criticize Trump.
Seriously.
I think U.S. Marshals should follow him, and any time he wants to go follow the president like he is, and behave — I mean, this is just bad manners. It’s boorish, it’s absurd. He doesn’t realize how foolish he looks. I mean, he should be brought back by the Marshals. Isn’t there some law that says presidents shouldn’t be attacking sitting presidents?
Dobbs was taking issue with comments that President Obama made at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in India, in which he advised people to “think before you tweet.”
Although President Obama did not reference Trump by name, that was apparently crime enough to warrant arrest by federal agents in Dobbs’ imagination.
And that premise is as neat an encapsulation of Trump-era authoritarianism and hostility toward free speech as you are likely to find.
More than that, though, it is a pristine projection of Trumpworld anxiety over the impending cooperation of Flynn, whose bygone chants of “lock her up” are becoming more bitterly ironic by the day.
