First daughter and senior adviser whose actual job nobody knows Ivanka Trump excels at getting credit for doing nothing, but somehow managed to bungle even that simple task by exposing her ignorance about the GOP tax scam that Congress just passed.
During a Thursday morning appearance on her father’s favorite TV show, “Fox & Friends,” the hosts praised Ivanka for unspecified “behind the scenes” work on the tax bill, and asked her about plans to travel the country shilling the plan next year.
Ivanka said it will be her “greatest pleasure,” especially the part where she gets to see something that will not actually be happening:
IVANKA: I’m really looking forward to doing a lot of traveling in April, when people realize the effect that this has, both on the processes of filling out of their taxes. The vast majority will be doing so on a single postcard.
As some folks were quick to point out, the GOP tax scam’s changes to how Americans file taxes will not affect filers in April, when 2017 taxes are due. And they certainly won’t be doing so on a postcard.
Ivanka might also be in for a rude awakening where the meager “relief” for average families is concerned, especially if their health insurance premiums are being jacked up as a result. Most Americans won’t be realizing the billions that Ivanka stands to gain, or even enough to set Ivanka’s holiday table.
Ivanka’s performance demonstrates both how out of touch she is with the experiences of regular people, and the degree to which she is utterly unqualified for any role in our government, even in a disastrous administration like Trump’s.
Perhaps we’d all be better off if she did nothing at all.
