Trump attacks Fox News again for telling the truth about his bad polling

For nearly two and a half decades, Fox News has consistently attacked progressives and Democrats, while promoting pro-Republican propaganda. In the last four years, they have been the leading source of pro-Trump praise and attempts to undermine his political enemies.

Yet, on the rare occasion that the right-wing outlet tells the truth, Trump has attacked them for straying from the party line.

“There’s something going on at Fox, I’ll tell you right now. And I’m not happy with it,” Trump told reporters on Sunday, when asked about a newly released poll from the network showing him with 43% approval and 56% disapproval.

“I think Fox is making a big mistake,” he added as he continued to complain about the polls. “Because, you know, I’m the one that calls the shots on that — on the really big debates.”

Trump spends much of his day live-tweeting Fox News and regurgitating its pro-Trump content, and cannot seem to reconcile the marked difference between its biased on-air content and the results of its polls.

In late July, he lashed out at his friends there, after a poll showed him losing in head-to-head matchups with leading Democratic election contenders.

While Fox has sung Trump’s praises nonstop since before he was inaugurated, the outlet’s polls are not subject to the same sort of manipulation and deception as their other work. Polling guru Nate Silver has consistently rated the Fox poll with a high grade for accuracy and methodology over the years. As a result, Trump’s polling on Fox reflects his consistently poor showing across the board.

Trump has never been above 50% approval in a Fox poll — his highest was 48% in February 2017 — and his rating there is within the same weak range seen in polls from legitimate news outlets.

Fox is a right-wing disinformation source and that doesn’t bother Trump in the least. But on the extremely rare occasion where the network has to cite reality and concede that he is unpopular and politically in a weak position, he lashes out.
