White supremacy fan Don Jr. says Democrats are the real Nazis

Donald Trump Jr. is promoting a made-up piece of right-wing propaganda with the claim that the Democratic Party’s platform is “heavily aligned” with Nazism.

Trump Jr., who has previously given interviews to racists and been a hero to the racist movement, made the comments at the premiere of “Death of a Nation.”

The film is the newest propaganda movie from conservative conspiracy theorist Dinesh D’Souza, who was recently rewarded for being a fanboy of Trump’s with a presidential pardon.

Speaking on the red carpet, Trump Jr. said, “If you look at [the Nazi] platform versus the platform of the modern left, you say, ‘Wait a minute. Those two are really heavily aligned and frankly, contrary to the right.”

He also said the “Nazi platform” and the “DNC platform” are ” awfully similar to a point that is actually scary.”

The inaccurate and ahistorical claim is the foundation of D’Souza’s movie, which like his other ridiculous films have a complete disconnect from reality.

The AV Club notes that the movie engages in “falsehoods, rhetorical sleights of hand, goalpost shifting, and general bad-faith arguments” that ” would require a monograph.” The Hollywood Reporter notes that it is packed with “historical inaccuracies and distortions” along with “several musical numbers.” Variety says the film is “preaching to the mentally unsound” and “detached from reality.”

The film, currently rated 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, is where Trump Jr. is taking the educational groundwork for his untrue conclusion.

The reality is that Democratic president Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act and a southern bloc of racist Democrats eventually left the party and formed a new coalition with the Republican Party.

While neither political party has a platform that echoes Nazism, it is the Republicans who have regularly supported racist figures and ideas over the decades.

The most notable of them in recent years is of course Trump Jr.’s father.

The attack is even stranger coming from Trump Jr., who became a hero to white supremacists during the presidential campaign.

He pushed the racist Pepe the Frog meme, invoked “the gas chamber” while supposedly joking, promoted an anti-Semitic writer, and gave an interview to a white supremacist, where he complained about “political correctness.”

Trump Jr. has been in the news lately for misleading Congress in defense of his father, but his red carpet smears show that even in a casual setting, he’s still all about promoting a big lie.
