RNC chair: My insulting Holy Week tweet was actually insult from two months ago
RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel wants to clarify her tweet accusing Democrats of not loving America. She still thinks Democrats don’t really love America — but she wants to make sure you know when she said it.

Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel sparked intense backlash Saturday when she sent a tweet accusing Democrats of “hating the President more than they love our country.”
The tweet drew sharp criticism from both sides of the aisle. By Sunday morning, there were more than 25,000 responses, most of which condemned McDaniel for her divisive rhetoric.
Less than 24 hours later, an RNC source went on the record to clarify the tweet — sort of.
Instead of clarifying or retracting the insulting accusation, the RNC source wanted to make sure that everyone knew McDaniel had actually made the statement in January.
According to CNN’s Jake Tapper, the source said McDaniel made the remark after Democratic lawmakers failed to offer sufficient praise of Trump at this year’s State of the Union address. The RNC official also told Tapper that it wasn’t McDaniel who sent the tweet from her account.
RNC source tells me McDaniel said this after State of the Union re: Dem lawmakers not standing for POTUS talking about black unemployment going down etc & was chagrined to see it tweeted by staff outside that context, as if she was attacking all Dem voters, esp during Holy Week. https://t.co/ZjW927QNV7

In other words, McDaniel still stands by the offensive comment — she just wants you to know that she made the remark in January, not March.
Apparently, conservatives believe that if they stay on their best behavior during Holy Week, they can spend the rest of the year attacking everyone from their political rivals to teen shooting survivors — all while lining up behind a president who is under investigation for potentially colluding with a hostile foreign nation to undermine our democratic process and for possibly violating campaign finance laws when his lawyer paid off a porn star.
Those are some interesting “family values.”
